Dorit Kemsley never expected Garcelle Beauvais to call her out in the way she did during last week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
After Garcelle suggested that Dorit was only acting understanding toward what Erika Jayne was going through, both legally and with her estranged husband, Thomas Girardi, to her face, Dorit admitted she was caught completely off-guard by Garcelle as Garcelle explained why she felt the need to call her out.
“I really had no idea, genuinely had no idea. I couldn’t understand,” Dorit admitted on the RHOBH: After Show on August 18. “Garcelle and I have never had a cross word, we’ve never had an issue. I’ve only had a great time with Garcelle. I had a lot of fun. I felt a real connection. Even after last season, we would stay in touch and we would text one another… I really didn’t understand it. I really didn’t.”
According to Dorit, she sat down to think about what had transpired between herself and Garcelle at Kyle Richards‘ dinner party after the event took place. And, as she looked back at Garcelle’s previous behavior, she began to realize a pattern.
“The more I thought about it, I started to remember incidences in the year prior where I wasn’t the target, other people were, but that I had seen her do it,” she explained. “So I really, I didn’t know if it was something she was doing because that’s what she does or if she had a real issue with me. But it started to feel more like she had an issue.”
“It felt really sh-tty,” she added of Garcelle’s dinner party behavior.
Meanwhile, in her own RHOBH: After Show segment, Garcelle explained why she decided to speak out against Dorit.
“One, because she wasn’t letting anybody else talk, and two, everybody was just going after [Sutton Stracke], going after Sutton,” she shared. “[And] I didn’t feel like she was actually saying all the things that she said in that room.”
Garcelle went on to say that she didn’t understand why Dorit and the other women were focusing so much attention on Sutton and what she had said about her concerns regarding Erika during their meeting.
“Maybe because she called the meeting or maybe because she was the one that sort of brought it up but I don’t think it was a horrible thing,” Garcelle said, defending her castmate. “I think we’re focusing on the wrong thing and saying all these things in front of Erika is also hurtful to Erika.”
As for how Sutton felt about her castmates continuously pointing out that she was the one who suggested they get together to discuss Erika’s legal scandal without her around, she said she “didn’t mind being the punching bag.”
“I really didn’t because I brought it up. I got everybody together. I was like, ‘Well, okay,’ because I was strong enough to do it,” she stated.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 11 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
