Thomas Girardi was not injured during an alleged break-in at his Pasadena home in January, following the claims estranged wife, Erika Jayne, made on the September 15 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Following Wednesday’s show, which featured Erika, 50, telling Kyle Richards, 52, that Thomas, 82, confronted the burglar and needed surgery because of the stress the incident put on his eyes, the detective who responded to the scene is sharing new details about what really went down.

“Tom wasn’t injured,” the detective told The Sun on September 16, confirming there was no contact between Tom and the supposed burglar.

“Tom was sleeping in his bedroom and he heard someone in the closet. Tom called out and thought it was the son, but he couldn’t tell because it was dark. He heard someone & saw a shadowy figure and he called out the son’s name, but no one responded,” the detective stated.

Eventually, the alleged intruder left the home, which is currently on the market for $8.9 million, without a confrontation.

“Tom showed me where he believed some cufflinks were taken. They were missing from the closet,” the detective recalled.

However, because there was no security camera footage available, along with a lack of evidence and leads, the department suspended the case.

“We didn’t have any security video, or security cameras. We didn’t have any leads and we suspended the case because we really didn’t have anything to go on,” the officer said.

Continuing on about his interaction with Thomas, the detective revealed he and his team suspected Thomas was struggling mentally.

“He gave a statement saying he was traveling all over the place, but it just didn’t seem like that was possible, it didn’t seem like he would because he was pretty old. So, I don’t know if it’s like dementia or Alzheimer’s started kicking in or something like that,” the officer added.

Because he was concerned for Thomas’ wellbeing, the detective said he contacted the recently-disbarred attorney‘s younger brother, Robert Girardi, who is now his permanent conservator.

“I spoke to the brother, he had told me he was already in court trying to get a conservatorship over him. We had also contacted some facilities that help with elderly people that would check on him and make sure he was okay,” he went on.

As for the claims Erika made about son Tommy Zizzo‘s car accident, which reportedly happened in the snow, the detective shared that he did recall hearing about an incident of that nature around the time of Thomas’ reported burglary.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 11 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
