Source Shares Real Reason Melissa and Joe Gorga Skipped Teresa's Wedding as RHONJ Couple Hit the Beach Amid Ceremony, Plus How Teresa Shaded Them

Melissa Gorga and her husband, Joe Gorga, reportedly skipped his sister Teresa Giudice‘s wedding at the Park Chateau Estate & Gardens in East Brunswick, New Jersey, on Saturday due to an “unforgivable” betrayal amid filming on the upcoming 13th season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

According to a new report, the couple was planning to attend Teresa and Luis Ruelas‘ nuptials until Teresa got involved in a fake rumor about their marriage that surfaced during production on Thursday.

“Teresa betrayed them in a way that’s unforgivable,” a source told PEOPLE on August 7. “They’re not going to celebrate Teresa’s new marriage when all she does is try to tear apart theirs.”

As the insider shared, it was not only Teresa’s role in the incident that led Melissa and Joe to opt out of the event. Instead, it was also the behavior of their new brother-in-law.

“It’s telling that Teresa didn’t have one relative at her wedding,” the source added, giving a nod to Teresa’s estranged cousins, Kathy Wakile and Rosie Pierri. “But that’s the choice Teresa made.”

Meanwhile, a second source said Melissa and Joe’s decision was further prompted by their desire to shield their marriage from the ongoing attacks Teresa has conducted in recent years.

“Viewers will see, but after the continued attacks, it’s clear the healthiest thing for Joe and Melissa to do is walk away,” the insider stated. “They just want to find peace, especially for their three children.”

Melissa and Joe’s efforts to make family a priority with Teresa are exhausted,” the insider added. “Sometimes removing the toxic energy from your life is the only way forward.”

According to another report from Bravo Housewives on Instagram, Teresa learned of the rumor about Melissa and Joe’s marriage from Margaret Josephs‘ former best friend, who will not be featured on the series’ new season. New cast member Danielle Cabral was the one who spoke of the report on camera.

“Melissa & Joe decided not to attend Teresa’s wedding after they got into a heated brawl with Louie Ruelas at the finale filming last week. A cheating rumor surfaced at the party after newbie, Danielle Cabral, brought it up on camera. The rumor was originally told to Teresa & Jennifer by an ex-friend of Margaret’s who is not on the show. It is unclear how Danielle found out about the rumor and where Louie’s involvement comes in,” the outlet revealed.

In photos shared by Page Six on Sunday, Melissa and Joe were seen arriving home from a trip to the Jersey Shore, with Melissa wearing a beige bikini top and a colorful sarong and Joe in a gray T-shirt and blue shorts.

According to the report, Melissa and Joe’s names were never removed from Teresa and Luis’ wedding seating chart. And as the outlet revealed, the couple was supposed to be seated with Teresa’s family, including her daughters.

Amid the ceremony on Saturday, Teresa seemed to throw shade at her brother in sister-in-law.

As seen in a video shared by Christian Gray Snow on Instagram, Teresa leaned toward the mic to clarify that her guests were her “chosen family.” Luis thanked their attendees, specifically his family and Teresa’s “friends and family,” for being part of their special day.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 13 is expected to debut on Bravo sometime later this year or early next year and will reportedly be followed by Teresa and Luis’ four-episode wedding special.
