Kathryn Dennis is sharing her thoughts on quitting Southern Charm.
After starring on each of the reality series’ eight seasons, Kathryn revealed if she’s seriously considered leaving the show while also naming the biggest misconceptions she believes fans have of her, explaining the big regret she has from her time on the series, and more.
“It always crosses my mind like pros and cons of doing it another year, but I feel so invested in the show,” Kathryn stated on the August 15 episode of Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef podcast. “I feel so connected to the show because like I was… 21 when it began… I gave birth to my daughter. I gave birth to my son. I just feel super involved with it. So I’ve never necessarily just been like, ‘F this show…’ I’ve had my times where I’m like, ‘I’ll walk away,’ but I was never serious.”
That said, Kathryn has been targeted with “many” misconceptions over the years.
“Maybe one of the biggest misconceptions is that I don’t want to learn, I don’t want to have those conversations, because I do. Sometimes I just don’t know, always know how to advocate for myself,” she explained, noting that she’s not always the best at “verbalizing how [she’s] feeling.”
Although Kathryn hasn’t always been portrayed in the best light, she said she does her best not to have regrets.
“I try and always keep true to that. [But] whenever I told [Whitney Sudler-Smith], I think to go fall on a knife, that was not the correct way I should have handled that,” she admitted. “That I guess is definitely a regret, but I was just acting in the moment.”
Moving onto Madison LeCroy, Kathryn explained why she believes her co-star has gotten so much celebrity attention — while throwing some shade her way.
“She’s got that whole beautiful blonde girl next door, but also kind of b-tchy, so it’s hot and sexy too. I just think she’s kind of like an all-around, like, intriguing person. She’s got a lot of energy to her. There’s a lot of energy that’s attractive, but then she can burn you like that,” Kathryn stated.
And when asked about the claims of being a “social climber” against Madison, who was linked to Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez amid his past romance with Jennifer “J-Lo” Lopez, and to Jay Cutler after his divorce from Kristin Cavallari, Kathryn said, “I think that it’s a fair statement.”
As for who she’s closest to today, Kathryn said Leva Bonaparte is the only co-star that “has stayed in touch,” while many ditched her amid tough times.
“Honestly, she’s reached out a few times and then Madison LeCroy called me on my birthday. But otherwise, like, I don’t know. I really kept to myself after kind of everything I went through,” she explained. “I realized there was a lot of people that didn’t have love for me… I was burned really, really bad by some girls… I was down and they left my side.”
When Kathryn was then asked which of her former castmates, out of Landon Clements, Chelsea Meissner, or Cameran Eubanks, she’d bring back to the show, she named Chelsea.
“The only one that I genuinely liked is Chelsea. Cause she’s always been real with me as far as I know,” Kathryn shared.
Later, after naming The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as the Bravo show she’d most want to be on if she wasn’t on Southern Charm, Kathryn said she fangirled for Erika Jayne at BravoCon.
“I was most starstruck to meet Erika Jayne actually at BravoCon,” she revealed. “I sent her a message on Instagram. I was just like, ‘Oh my God, I would love to meet you…’ And what do you know? I met her. So I felt like such a fangirl when that happened. It was so much fun. It was such a cool experience.”
Also on the podcast, Kathryn, who shares two children with ex-boyfriend Thomas Ravenel, including daughter Kensington, 8, and son St. Julien, 7, confirmed she wants more kids.
“Definitely. I want… at least like two more children. A boy and a girl,” she revealed. “And then if we want more, we have more.”
Southern Charm season eight airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
