All is not well with the couples of The Real Housewives of Potomac.
In the series’ just-released trailer for season five, a number of couples are at odds as Ashley Darby and Michael Darby are faced with yet another scandal and Karen Huger questions her 23-year marriage to husband Ray Huger. Meanwhile, as new cast member Dr. Wendy Osefo joins the show, the ladies are forced to deal with the fallout from Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett‘s highly-publicized altercation in October of last year.
“I never thought as black women we would be right here, but we are,” Karen tells Monique as the clip begins. “It’s not something you can brush under the rug, but you’ve got to address this!”
“We’ve been able to hold ourselves above the stereotype, and in five minutes, she took it away,” Gizelle adds as moments from Monique and Candiace’s altercation, which resulted in dueling assault charges, were seen.
As for Ashley and Michael, who are no strangers to scandal, they are faced with rumors of potential infidelity after Michael is caught enjoying a wild night out with strippers before allegedly taking one of them back to a hotel.
In another scene, Karen is seen asking Ray if he’s still in love with her before getting a less-than-promising response.
“Over time, things change,” he explains as she’s seen saying she “should have left” during another scene.
While Robyn and Juan Dixon are newly engaged, they went through rocky times during RHOP season five and ultimately sought help from a therapist.
“Don’t act like our marriage was awesome,” Juan says.
Also giving their relationship a second chance are Gizelle and Jamal Bryant, but their children don’t seem to be on board.
As many of her RHOP co-stars face relationship drama, Candiace and husband Chris Bassett appear to be going strong as Monique announces, “I just peed on a stick.”
Then, as Wendy enters the picture, the John’s Hopkins University professor wastes no time getting her hands dirty with her co-stars as she demands Ashley address her as “Dr. Wendy.”
“Wendy is black girl magic personified. She can read a book, honey, and she can read you down,” Candiace proclaims.
The Real Housewives of Potomac season five premieres on Sunday, May 3 at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
