During a dramatic part one of The Real Housewives of Potomac reunion, Gizelle Bryant‘s ex-husband/current[?] boo Jamal Bryant was sufficiently dragged by Monique Samuels with her now-iconic binder full of receipts. Now, the Atlanta pastor is clapping back with a binder of his own.
In a lengthy Instagram Live video shared on Wednesday night, Jamal clarified some of the gossip that was spewed about him (kind of?). He noted that he was trying to “honor the wishes” of Gizelle, who had asked him “not to respond,” but he didn’t want his “silence” to be “confused with consent.”
Jamal first went on to slam reality TV, saying that it didn’t represent “the best of who we are” or “advance our progress.” He also expressed his regret for appearing on the show this season, even for a few episodes (or, you know, in the phone).
“A bone of contention between Gizelle and I for years was about her participation in the show and how it is that I did not support it,” Jamal stated in his video (via YouTube user Muriel H). “In baby steps of reconciliation, I agreed to be on it, against my better judgment, against my wisdom, and even against my convictions. I wholeheartedly regret participating and I want you to know that I will never be on the [RHOP] or anything in that franchise ever again. I wanted you to know why.”
“You can’t bring me receipts if I got the cash register,” he then began as he opened his own binder, addressing the receipts Monique shared regarding another woman with whom he was texting.
“Yes, I dated a young lady in New York. In case you all missed it, I’ve been divorced for 11 years and single people date. When you date, sometimes it works, and sometimes it didn’t. In this instance, it didn’t. Nothing immoral, illegal, or unethical took place, it did not work out,” he shared, then switching gears to address his relationship status.
“There is some clarity that needs to happen: I’m not married, I’m not engaged. Some of you have a strange relationship with language. You can’t have a mistress while you’re single. So I never had a mistress,” he revealed, seemingly implying that he was no longer seeing Gizelle or wasn’t at the time. “As a consequence, she’s never been to visit me in Atlanta, never been at New Birth, never been in my home, I’ve never been in her home.”
Jamal then went on to call out the woman with whom he was texting, accusing her of chasing “clout” by sending the text messages allegedly first to Bravo and then to all the women on the cast — except for Gizelle, of course.
Further in his video, the pastor slammed Monique for her engagement with the rumors about him, reiterating that he was “not sleeping with any woman” in his church and had “no inappropriate relationship” with any woman in his church.
“I understand what the hostility was about and why the redirect of attention was on me,” he stated, noting Monique’s obvious anger at Gizelle’s shade about the rumor of Monique fathering a child with her trainer. “It is not Gizelle who leaked that story, but your best friend GiGi. [Monique] became hostile and angry and it is misdirected rage.” (Editor’s Note — Gigi has publicly denied the nasty rumor regarding Monique’s family or that she was the one who spread it).
Moreover, Jamal went on to blast Monique’s husband, Chris Samuels, for his behavior at the reunion, shading the former athlete as mentally unstable.
“You live in a house with a man who has anger management [issues], who doesn’t mind expressing volatile behavior. Everything that I’m saying tonight is not conjecture,” he shared. “You will see Monique’s husband try to attack my wife — my ex-wife — [at the reunion] and Robyn [Dixon], and security had to be called and he had to be subdued. Monique, you all have my phone number, as you expressed on the show, but I had y’all’s address but because of grace, I didn’t respond to that.”
For the final blow, Jamal accused Chris, an ex-NFL football player, of potentially having CTE, or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, a common occurrence of brain trauma for former athletes.
“Chris, you got to take care of CTE. Some of your former teammates contacted me, they’re concerned, [they said] ‘Jamal, please, don’t respond’ because CTE is a progressive degenerative disease from a history of trauma to the brain,” he shared. “Just last week you had an outbreak again of verbally assaulting a black woman in Safeway — we have the footage of that, but I’m not gonna air that, but I’m asking that you please get help. I’ve tracked down your pastor, so all of what I’m saying is involved, so your pastor can help you get the help that is needed and is necessary.”
Jamal also once again reiterated his ‘single’ claim on his Instagram Stories, sharing his earlier quote that read: “You can’t have a mistress, when ur SIIINNGLE!!!!!! (U dummies!).”
Stay tuned for the aforementioned reunion drama on The Real Housewives of Potomac, which airs every Sunday at 9/8c on Bravo.
