Ramona Singer is reportedly concerned about being labeled as a racist at the upcoming taping of the Real Housewives of New York City reunion.
Although Ramona attempted to dodge certain sensitive conversations throughout season 13, a new report claims she’s apprehensive about the future special because she believes her castmate Eboni K. Williams may try to make her look racist.
According to a July 17 report from TMZ, Ramona contacted the RHONY production team to express her concerns regarding the racial conversations that will surely take place and made it clear that she fears Eboni will unleash a verbal attack and attempt to paint her as a bigot.
During her conversation with production, Ramona reportedly attempted to convince the team to leave certain topics, including race, out of the special. However, understandably so, the producers were unwilling to agree against discussing something that was so prevalent throughout the main episodes.
While Ramona accepts that race will come up at the RHONY reunion and has no plans to avoid the taping, she wanted to be sure that production knew how she was feeling in the weeks leading up to the special, which was recently rescheduled for September due to “scheduling conflicts.”
In other RHONY news, former cast member Jill Zarin appeared on the July 15 episode of her sister’s podcast, The Lisa Wexler Show, where she shared her thoughts on the series’ ongoing ratings struggle.
“I think the biggest problem with the show, which nobody talks about, is it’s called The Real Housewives of New York,” she said, via Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “There isn’t one housewife. And there’s not one boyfriend. And I think the lack of male energy on the show is the problem.”
Although some have blamed the many conversations about race for the ratings dip, Jill denied any such thing.
“It’s a lack of male energy,” Jill continued. “To either fight over or, you know, men are from Mars, women are from Venus. And I think that in a lot of ways is the success of the Real Housewives brand as a whole. When [Bethenny Frankel] told [Luann de Lesseps] that [Tom D’Agostino] cheated on her, which ultimately ended in her divorce, again, it was a man. If you really think about the stuff. Ramona getting divorced from [Mario Singer]. The first few seasons of New York was so great because of [Simon van Kempen] and his red leather pants.”
“We are missing men,” she added. “The most important thing that they did was hire someone Black. They should have made her married with kids.”
The Real Housewives of New York City season 13 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
