The Real Housewives of New York City season 13 reunion has officially been canceled by Bravo.
After months of rumors regarding filming delays, the network shared a statement about their decision to forgo filming the end-of-season special. Shortly after that, Leah McSweeney and Eboni K. Williams reacted to the news with their statements.
“Due to scheduling challenges around taping the reunion of The Real Housewives of New York City in a timely manner, Bravo confirmed there will not be a reunion for this season,” a network spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight on September 17. “It’s disappointing to not be able to bring the cast back together, but we are happy to have ended on such a high note with the finale, and are now shifting our focus to next season.”
According to a source, the news has left the RHONY cast feeling “beyond frustrated,” especially after they were subjected to numerous delays with no real reason as to why.
“They never got clear answers,” the source said. “They just wanted to say their piece and move on. Some of the ladies feel like the reunion would’ve given them a chance to come together as a united front and put the negative energy of the season behind them.”
“Now they feel like they’re going out with a whimper instead of a bang,” the source added.
While the cast was said to be dreading the reunion because they had “no interest” in rehashing the ugly events of the season, which was filmed over a year ago, they now feel a lack of closure.
As RHONY fans know, the 13th season was quite low-rated, with one episode dropping to a series low of 764,000 viewers and the finale episode bringing in just 841,000 viewers.
“As much as I do feel we have things we all need to talk with each other, I’m also really relieved not to have to talk about things that happened a year ago,” Leah admitted in a video shared to her Instagram Story on Friday night. “At this point, it’s a long time ago, and it was a rough year, all around, in general. And it’s been a season that I feel like has been unfairly torn apart and we all gone through the ringer while it was filming and while it was airing. So now there’s no reunion.”
Around the same time, Eboni gave fans a glimpse of the custom-made dress she planned to wear to the taping.
“Disappointed I won’t get to wear this masterpiece at my first [RHONY] reunion,” she said.
Just last month, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Eboni said everyone was “incentivized to make the reunion happen.”
“I’m looking very much forward to this reunion. I think my castmates are, too, because a lot of crap went down this season. And it’ll be great, I think, for everybody to be able to express how they feel, how they felt watching it back,” she said.
Meanwhile, just days ago, Sonja Morgan told Us Weekly the reunion was happening.
