Sutton Stracke was quite uncomfortable amid last week’s People’s Choice Awards.
After reuniting with nearly the entire Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast, including Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, Dorit Kemsley, Lisa Rinna, Crystal Kung-Minkoff, and Kathy Hilton, Sutton admitted that the seating arrangements were far from ideal before dishing on her “dysfunctional” relationship with Lisa and reacting to Kathy’s controversial lipgloss application.
“If you can think about the most awkward family Thanksgiving dinner — just ramp it up a hundred times,” Sutton told Page Six of the event on December 8. “It was the most awkward dinner ever. It was like gritting-our-teeth awkward.”
“They told us where to sit,” she continued. “They just seated us. I didn’t choose my seat.”
During the event, Sutton was seated next to Lisa, and Lisa was next to Kathy, who was also next to Erika. And while Sutton said she and Lisa chatted “a little,” she proceeded to say of their relationship, “It’s so dysfunctional.”
“So, sometimes, one of us can say something funny, and we laugh because we feel awkward,” she explained. “It’s like, ‘Somebody just say something.’”
As for Kathy’s lipgloss application, which came as Law & Order actress Mariska Hargitay gave a heartfelt speech, Sutton said she didn’t see it firsthand because she was seated “far away” from the stage. She then added that she “loves” Mariska’s character “so much” and was “enraptured” by her words.
“Then I saw it go viral with Kathy applying her lip gloss,” Sutton went on. “I think she thought that the camera was not on her. I think that she thought the camera was off of her.”
As she looks ahead to the upcoming 13th season of RHOBH, Sutton said she’s happy to have some time off from filming.
“We’re always on a break between seasons, but it’s been nice to have a fall again,” she shared. “I’m on the board for American Ballet Theatre, and I got to go to our fall gala. I hadn’t done that in a few years, so that was nice! My son is a freshman in college, and I got to go to parents’ weekend, and I’m having a store event — and having a store event without cameras is like normal life again, and I enjoy that!”
During a separate interview with Access Hollywood on December 5, Sutton was asked why filming on season 13 hadn’t yet begun.
“If I knew, and told you I’d have to kill you. I don’t know,” she admitted.
And although Sutton didn’t know for sure when filming would kick off, she seemed pretty certain that the new episodes would feature a reconciliation between Kyle and Kathy.
“I think they’re sisters. And I think sisters can fight. And I think sisters can make up,” she explained. “I want to see them happy and that’s what I can say. I’m friends with both of them and I want to see love. They love each other so I think they’ll work it out.”
Also during the interview, after being questioned about whether or not Lisa Rinna should return, Sutton refused to answer.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13 is expected to begin production sometime in early 2023.
