Scheana Shay welcomed ex-boyfriend Robert Parks-Valletta to her podcast last Friday. And during the episode, the actor-turned-producer looked back at his relationship and messy split from the Vanderpump Rules star.
Before revealing what he’s been up to since filming season six of the Bravo reality series along with Scheana, who he first dated around 15 years ago, prior to her marriage to first husband Mike Shay, Rob confessed to being emotionally immature at the time of their second go-around and admitted it was “weird” seeing Scheana with now-husband Brock Davies for the first time at a rap concert in San Diego.
“I just didn’t do the work. You’re dealing with someone who was immature emotionally, immature communication-wise, [and] immature as a man,” Rob said on the December 23 episode of Scheananigans, via Bravo’s The Daily Dish. “I can’t look back and change anything, I can just move forward and say, ‘OK, hey, like expect better.’”
After rekindling their relationship amid feelings of “unfinished business” in 2017, following Scheana’s divorce from Mike, and dreaming of welcoming a daughter together, who they’d name Madison Marie Parks-Valletta, Scheana and Rob, who has decreased his TV-hanging time to just six minutes in recent years, split later that same year.
Following their breakup, as Rob worked on himself and went to therapy, Scheana auditioned for a Las Vegas show and temporarily moved out of Los Angeles.
“I am very thankful for our time together, but also how abruptly and hurtful[ly] it ended, because, at the time, I was broken. You knew this. It forced me to move to another state,” Scheana noted. “That job, to this day, is still one of the best things I’ve done in my life. I never knew I wanted to get back onstage and perform… [It] was a dream I could never have imagined and never would have happened had you not broken up with me the way you did.”
Despite their messy split, Scheana and Rob were able to repair their relationship and establish a friendship.
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think you were an awesome human,” he told her during the episode.
And even though he felt it was “weird” to see Scheana with Brock at first, he also understood the attraction between them.
“[I] got it, instantly,” he explained. “I understood your two energies are two giant flames going full steam ahead.”
As for what he’s been up to since fans last saw him on Pump Rules, Rob revealed he is a producer and a host of six travel shows for The Destination Channel and wrote the 2021 handbook Making “IT” in 2021. He is also acting as the CEO of Making It Media and is “most likely moving” to Texas to open an office for the media company in January.
“I think I have a very clear vision of what I want, and I’m going after it,” he shared.
Vanderpump Rules season 10 is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime in early 2023.
