Dorinda Medley Was Reportedly Fired Over Her 'Drinking' as RHONY Sources Share How She Could Have Saved Her Job and Claim She Isn't a "Good Representative" for the Show or Bravo

Dorinda Medley reportedly got axed from her full-time role on The Real Housewives of New York City after being deemed as a “mean drunk.”

According to a new report, Dorinda was dropped from the show after lashing out at a number of her castmates, including Tinsley Mortimer and Luann de Lesseps, during season 12 and failing to acknowledge that she crossed a line at the end of the season.

On August 25, hours after Dorinda announced she was leaving the show, Page Six said she was completely “blindsided” after learning she’d been fired and had been filming an episode of The $100,000 Pyramid when she received the call.

Although it was noted that Dorinda had become a “mean drunk” on the show, it was clarified that people did not feel she was “a drunk.” Instead, they believed alcohol simply led to mean behavior.

As RHONY fans may recall, Dorinda was labeled a “bully” early on in season 12 after poking fun at Tinsley’s relationships and telling her she was “invisible.” Then, weeks later, Dorinda shockingly mentioned Luann’s past arrest during an argument.

“If she’d have said [at the end of the season], ‘Look — I’ve been depressed and that’s why I’m acting like this,’ or, ‘I miss my [husband, Richard, who died in 2011],’ and said she’d work on it, I think it would have been different,” a source explained.

Dorinda had become “a mean drunk,” the insider continued. “That’s just not where they want the show to go.”

While it has not yet been revealed who will replace Dorinda on the upcoming 13th season, it was noted that executives behind RHONY did not want to sign up for another season of Dorinda’s bad behavior and had opted to instead look for a new cast member.

“In this climate of social justice and cancel culture, she was not a good representative of the show or the network,” another source explained.

The Real Housewives of New York City season 12 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
