Thomas Girardi made a shocking comment about his estranged wife, Erika Jayne, while out in Los Angeles this week. Unfortunately, it is unclear whether he actually understood the implication he was making.
After enjoying a lunch date, the 82-year-old ex-attorney, who was disbarred earlier this year after being diagnosed with late-onset Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in February, was questioned about whether or not the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member knew about his legal malpractice.
In a video shared by Page Six on September 23, a member of the paparazzi was seen asking Thomas a series of questions. And after saying that he was doing “real good” and “liking” his new living arrangement, Thomas was met with an inquiry about Erika.
“Can you set the record straight for us? Did Erika know anything? Everybody wants to know,” the cameraman asked.
Right away, one of the two men who was with Thomas requested the camera be turned off.
“We’re ready to go… would you drop the camera? Okay? Do you hear me?” he asked.
“He wants to answer the question,” the cameraman replied.
“No, he doesn’t,” the other man argued.
Meanwhile, after standing behind his friend and looking a bit dazed, Thomas, who appears to have lost a substantial amount of weight in recent months, offered a response.
“I think she does,” Thomas stated of Erika.
At the end of last year, as Erika filed documents to end her decades-long marriage, Thomas was accused of stealing millions in settlement funds from his former clients, including widows and orphans of plane crash victims, and using the money to sustain the RHOBH cast member’s luxurious lifestyle.
Following Thomas’ comment, another member of the paparazzi caught up with Erika, who had recently arrived back to Los Angeles following a trip to Las Vegas, where she walked the red carpet for the first time in several months.
“Erika, I’m going to be straight up with you, Tom said on camera yesterday that you were aware. Do you have anything to say to him? Do you think he’s telling the truth?” the cameraman asked.
But Erika didn’t respond and walked away in silence.
While Thomas’ comment seemingly suggested that Erika was either involved or at least in the loop with his crimes, it should be noted that due to his current mental state, which recently resulted in the former attorney being placed under the permanent conservatorship of his brother, his statements against the RHOBH cast member would likely not be admissible in court. They should likely be taken with a grain of salt.
