Ashley Darby has reportedly filed for a legal separation from her husband, Michael Darby.
Amid production on the upcoming sixth season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, an insider has confirmed that Ashley, who shares two children with Michael, two-year-old Dean and one-year-old Dylan, has started the process of divorce in her home state of Virginia.
On April 19, a source close to the couple confirmed Ashley’s filing to Love B Scott, who noted that the split was first reported by Kempire.
According to the report, the state of Virginia requires couples to live separately for at least one year before they are able to make their divorce filing.
As RHOP fans well know, Ashley’s marital troubles, as well as Michael’s missteps with infidelity, have been seen frequently on the show. However, they’ve been well-documented on social media as well, with one recent photo shared last month showcasing Michael with another woman.
While the image quickly made its rounds on Reddit, Twitter, and Instagram, Ashley ultimately shut down claims of cheating with a post on her Instagram Story.
“That article is bogus. Michael was at a wedding this weekend, and the people pictured are his friends of over 30 years,” Ashley told her fans and followers at the end of March. “Michael and I will always be transparent about what’s happening between us.”
“Leave the fables to Aesop,” she added.
Although it has not been confirmed what specifically led Ashley to file for a legal separation, she admitted during an episode of the RHOP: After Show last year that she did not completely trust her husband.
“I would be lying through my teeth if I said that I was completely comfortable and felt safe and trusted Michael 100 percent after having Dylan because that previous experience after having Dean, it was hurtful to me, that rather than talk to me about how he was feeling he decided to try to find affection from someone else,” she explained. “So while things are a little bit different I still am a little scarred from that, and I am very on guard and aware and always looking for signs that could be leading us going down that road again.”
The report also noted that Ashley’s separation from Michael will be featured on the upcoming season of RHOP.
When it comes to social media, the last time Ashley shared a photo of Michael was a couple of months ago back in January.
The Real Housewives of Potomac season seven is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime later this year.
