Luann de Lesseps thinks Bethenny Frankel‘s ongoing commentary about the Real Housewives of New York City is “a little strange.”
While appearing on a podcast on Monday, Luann addressed Bethenny’s many comments about the show before sharing her thoughts on the potential cast of the upcoming Legacy series, addressing the swirling rumors regarding her alleged spinoff with Sonja Morgan, and more.
“I don’t think Bethenny’s coming back. I think she’s made that pretty clear that we can’t pay her enough, but you know, you shouldn’t forget about the hand that fed you in the first place,” Luann first said of Bethenny on the June 20 episode of Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef.
Although Luann doesn’t feel that Bethenny is as grateful as she should be to Bravo, she said she frequently discusses RHONY on her podcast.
“People have told me that she talks about the Housewives all the time. Well, if you want to distance yourself from the Housewives and not be on the Housewives, then find something else to talk about,” she advised, noting that it was “a little strange” that her ex-castmate had mingled with other members of the franchise at the recent MTV Movie and TV Awards.
As RHONY is split into two different shows, one of which will feature an all-new cast for season 14 and a second that will follow former cast members, Luann said they’re currently casting, but she noted that she hasn’t “gotten a contract yet.”
“We’ll see. I mean, I think we’re going to have news about that soon,” she teased, noting that she “can’t imagine” she wouldn’t be chosen.
“You never know with the Housewives franchise,” Luann admitted. “[But] I’m excited for the fans to finally get some news as to what’s happening with RHONY.”
As fans await the news, Luann has some ideas for who she’d like to be featured on Legacy.
“I think [Aviva Drescher] would be great to come back … She’s married, she has a family, she has kids. I mean, I think that would add a nice dynamic. She knows all of us, including Harry Dubin. So, so I think it would be great to have Aviva back and you know Kristen Taekman also, who’s beautiful. And I think that that would be great. Of course, you know, [Jill Zarin], who’s an OG. [Dorinda Medley] has to come back and, and you know, maybe a little Kelly Bensimon or Tinsley Mortimer. ”
Luann also shared who she wouldn’t want to see on the show, saying, “I wouldn’t be thrilled,” when Heather Thompson and Carol Radziwill were mentioned.
When Luann was then asked about her alleged Simple Life-style spinoff with Sonja, she said that while she “can’t comment,” it would “be great.”
“I know the Simple Life very well … I had said to Victoria, my daughter, I’d said, ‘You know, that would be right up my alley.’ [But] I can’t confirm anything yet,” she teased. “I don’t know. And it was a rumor on Page Six, so you can’t believe everything you read on Page Six.”
Also during the interview, Luann confirmed she’s single.
“I’m dating, [but] there’s nobody significant in my life,” she shared. “Between, you know, touring and family and I am actually writing a book, I’m working on a new book, which is a memoir. So I’ve got my hands pretty full for the moment.”
In other Real Housewives news, Luann’s former RHONY castmate, Dorinda, is currently feuding with Vicki Gunvalson, her co-star on Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip season two, after the Real Housewives of Orange County alum suggested her home was old and boring.
“I can’t imagine why Vicki thought of the house that way, because it’s a beautiful house. It’s in the Berkshires, one of the prime locations of having a country home, and Dorinda, you know, worked really hard to renovate it and make it beautiful,” Luann said in response to the drama. “It may not be her taste, but at the same time, it’s a beautiful house and nobody can say it’s not.”
