Lala Kent knows her one-year-old daughter, Ocean Kent Emmett, will one day read The Los Angeles Times’ recent exposé on her father, and Lala’s former fiancé, Randall Emmett.
While attending the grand opening of Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval‘s new bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s, last Tuesday, the Vanderpump Rules star reacted to the shocking article, which featured not only claims of fraud from Randall’s former employees, but also allegations of sexual misconduct from numerous women (all of which Randall, via his rep, denied).
“I know she’s gonna grow up, she gonna read things, she gonna watch things. [And] I [plan on] just being fully transparent with her, and when she asks questions, I don’t think that sugarcoating it is going to serve anybody,” Lala told Entertainment Tonight on July 19, admitting that the exposé was “definitely disturbing.”
In the months since their split, which was reportedly prompted by Randall’s alleged cheating, Lala and Randall have been in contact with one another. However, as Lala explained, they “communicate only about Ocean,” who they welcomed in April 2021.
“It’s very short, it’s usually like a couple of sentences, and we leave it at that,” she revealed.
As she moves forward from her relationship with Randall — and the reported physical altercation they were involved in after Lala confronted Randall about his alleged unfaithfulness — Lala said she’s “excited to be single and to be a good mama and free.”
“That’s what it is — freedom! I’m so excited for that,” she added.
During a separate interview with Extra TV, Lala said she’s ready for her “hot girl summer.”
“I just want to have a lot of fun and experience freedom… I want to laugh a lot… And [to] feel hot, obviously,” she explained.
But when it comes to dating, Lala admits the concept “freaks [her] out.”
“I can do, like, group things. Group things — that is, like, my safe zone right now… To sit down with someone and try and care about their life, I’m not there yet. I know that sounds so selfish and mean. Any extra time I have or energy, that’s going to my kid,” she revealed, noting that her life as a mom is “very different” than her life pre-baby.
“But it’s amazing,” she clarified. “It is like the little human you created and you see these little changes [and] you think your baby is a genius… and I can’t remember a life without her in it.”
As for what fans can expect to see on Pump Rules season 10, Lala said she’s being “open and honest.”
“It’s real life… I would say this season is going to be very fun for me, but there are going to be moments that are real and vulnerable,” she shared.
Vanderpump Rules season 10 began filming earlier this month.
