According to a new report, Nene Leakes was at the center of the controversy after she was reportedly exposed as the mastermind behind the controversy known as “SnakeGate,” despite her legal attempts to prevent such a thing from happening, as her co-star, Kenya Moore, mentioned the ongoing rumors about her alleged romance with a D.C.-based man named Rodney.
On April 25, Love B Scott revealed that Nene was put on blast for allegedly fabricating a story in which Cynthia Bailey was accused of trash-talking her on an audio clip. However, as “friend” Yovanna Momplaisir shared, the audio clip never actually existed and Nene only discussed the matter for the sake of a storyline.
While Yovanna knew no audio clip existed, she allegedly played along with Nene’s plot in hopes of landing a full-time role on RHOA season 13. After all, the more she was forced to address “SnakeGate” with her co-stars, the more she was seen on-camera.
In addition to hiring attorney Lisa Bloom in the midst of season 12, which she is rumored to have done to put pressure on Bravo after becoming upset over Kandi Burruss‘ many spinoffs, Nene was said to have sent a letter of cease and desist to Yovanna in an effort to keep her from sharing the truth about “SnakeGate” at the reunion.
She also is accused of threatening production after learning Yovanna would be featured during the taping.
At another point during the filming, Nene went to war with Kenya after she mentioned a man named Rodney, who she’s allegedly been seeing on the down-low during her many trips to Maryland, where she owns a store.
Although Nene had a ton of drama with Yovanna and Kenya, she and Porsha maintained their “Big Sister, Little Sister” dynamic as they went head to head with the other ladies of RHOA, including Kenya, Kandi, and Eva Marcille, who reportedly came in with “guns blazing.”
During the taping of the three-part reunion, which host Andy Cohen recently described as “epic,” Nene allegedly stormed off and left her at-home set on a number of occasions and eventually, she failed to return. That said, because the taping was virtual, it is hard to say if Nene will be absent for any substantial amount of time.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 12 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo TV.
