Thomas Girardi is no longer allowed to practice law.
Three months after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills attorney and estranged husband of Erika Jayne was accused of staging a fake divorce in an effort to protect his wealth from creditors, the 81-year-old’s career appears to be over.
On March 10, Us Weekly revealed the news, sharing that Thomas’ license to practice law in the state of California was deactivated as of Tuesday, March 9.
He is “not eligible to practice law,” the State Bar of California confirmed.
As RHOBH fans may have heard, Thomas was examined by a psychiatrist in February as part of his conservatorship case, and during the assessment, Dr. Nathan Lavid determined that he is suffering from “late onset” Alzheimer’s disease and is unable to understand the court proceedings against him.
In November, Erika, 49, filed documents to end her decades-long marriage to the attorney, and weeks later, she accused him of having an affair with a California judge. Around the same time, she and Thomas were accused of embezzling $2 million in settlement funds meant for the families of victims of the 2018 Lion Air Flight 610 crash and he was ultimately forced into involuntary bankruptcy.
In December, an insider told Us Weekly that Erika was “in disbelief with all the lawsuits that are coming that no one was aware of” as a second source said she feels “betrayed” by their legal drama.
“Tom always handled all of the finances and that was how they handled things. She is just reeling from all of this,” the source shared.
“My brother presently needs me to make all decisions related to this bankruptcy case, all legal matters in which he is presently involved, and also to make all decisions related to his personal matters, such as health decisions,” Robert said in a February 12 declaration.
Robert will remain Thomas’ conservator until March 30 but is requesting the order be extended.
