Lisa Rinna shared a surprising development in her ongoing feud with Lisa Vanderpump on Wednesday night’s Watch What Happens Live.
After being at odds with her former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills castmate for the past several years, Rinna admitted that she gained empathy for her ex-co-star, who tragically lost her brother to suicide in 2018, after experiencing the death of her mother, Lois Rinna, in November 2021.
After first noting that she “didn’t even know” Vanderpump had a brother prior to Mark Vanderpump‘s death on the August 3 episode of WWHL, Rinna spoke about how grief impacted her thoughts on Vanderpump.
“I think grief is… I’m sorry to say that. Grief is horrible,” she shared. “Grief is really tough and until you’re in those shoes you can’t really understand it so if I could offer even more empathy, I would now, being in my shoes.”
Still, when asked to list her former castmates by who she’d want to see back, getting the choices of Vanderpump, Teddi Mellencamp, and Camille Grammer, Rinna said, “Teddi, Teddi, Teddi!”
Though Rinna isn’t currently in production on RHOBH, she and Erika Jayne recently traveled to Hawaii with their co-star, Diana Jenkins. And upon their arrival back to Los Angeles, Erika was served with legal documents for a new $50 million lawsuit at the airport.
Looking back at the incident, host Andy Cohen noted that he’d never seen Rinna run from a camera so quickly.
“It’s really kind of funny. It’s really true,” Rinna replied.
She then explained how the awkward moment played out.
“It was like 11 o’clock at night and we just didn’t expect that. And this woman pretended she was a fan,” Rinna revealed. “She said, ‘Erika, I love you so much, can I have a selfie with both of you?’ And I was like, over it. And I didn’t want to take a selfie. I had my mask on and I kept walking.”
According to Rinna, she had no idea the woman was there to present Erika with the lawsuit.
“And next thing I know, I started to feel this commotion and I look back and Erika’s got these paper in her hand and I’m like, I’m just walking. I’m boring, I’m getting out. That’s all I can tell ya. Horrible,” she explained.
Then, when Andy questioned Rinna about what Erika said afterwards, she noted that the two of them “had separate cars.”
“That was part of the problem,” she shared. “The cars weren’t there. We had to walk across the street.”
Rinna then admitted that when it comes to her recent social media feuds, which have included spats with Kathy Hilton and the Real Housewives of Dubai cast, she’s been “a mess.”
“I have been a flipping nightmare. I know it. I acknowledge it,” she confessed. “I have tried to fix it as much as I can. I’m fully self-aware that I’m a mess right now. I’m just a mess. So let’s hope it gets better.”
“All of it! Everything!” she later added of her social media regrets.
Moving on to Erika’s recent behavior on RHOBH, Rinna said that when it comes to her cussing at Garcelle Beauvais‘ son, Jax, 14, “kids are off limits,” and regarding her “laxative” comment to Crystal Kung-Minkoff, who suffers from an eating disorder, it was simply “wrong.”
“It’s very talk to somebody that has an eating disorder. You can never say the right thing, truly. And that was the wrong thing to say,” Rinna, whose daughter Amelia Hamlin has been public with her own eating disorder struggles, explained.
When Rinna was then confronted with claims of potential hypocrisy for getting mad at Sutton Stracke for calling Diana “soulless” while seemingly ignoring Erika’s comments to Garcelle’s sons, she set the record straight.
“First of all I wasn’t there and so I did talk to Erika about it,” she revealed.
Meanwhile, on the WWHL: After Show, Rinna reacted to Tamra Judge‘s recent claims of Denise Richards, who was infamously accused of having an affair with Brandi Glanville amid season 10, which she denied, hitting on her at BravoCon.
“I did not feel vindicated,” she said. “I had actually heard that so in a way it was another person saying, I’d already heard it to be honest.”
Throughout the live broadcast of the show, Rinna took aim at Sutton on a number of occasions, first responding to a virtual fan, who wanted to know why she found it fun to torture her co-star.
“You don’t see why? It’s not obvious to you?” she wondered.
Then, when asked about Sutton saying it’s insensitive to talk about people when they aren’t there, Rinna labeled the moment hypocritical.
“That’s the pot calling the kettle black. Look at what we did to Erika… This show is filled with hypocrisy,” she noted, giving a nod to the season 11 moment in which she and her castmates met up to discuss Erika’s legal drama.
Also on the show, Rinna revealed that Sutton was only featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live! because she was unable to make the taping.
“It was supposed to be me but I was out of town and it was Sutton. It’s the truth though. We said it. So I said it! It was lovely,” she stated.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 12 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
