Lala Kent is offering an update on her back and forth friendship with Scheana Shay.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated premiere of Vanderpump Rules season nine, Lala appeared on a recent podcast, where she shared some surprising news regarding her relationship with her fellow new mommy, teased the addition of “new faces,” and admitted it was “hard” filming without her axed cast mates.
“I like to say that [Scheana and I are] stuck with each other because we’ve been through so much,” Lala said during the July 19 episode of Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef. “And I think we have like a really deep love for one another.”
Although Lala and Scheana were involved in a messy war of words last year after Scheana called out Lala for failing to be there for her after she and boyfriend Brock Davies tragically lost their first child to miscarriage, Lala said they were brought back together by their newfound roles as mothers.
“Being parents, you know, it’s very nice because my, my other friends who are moms are no longer on the show. So now Scheana and I, even though we’re bonded, we have a completely new bond that we’ve formed,” she explained. “It’s hard to leave your baby behind. Even though Vanderpump Rules is real life, there’s cameras involved, and our babies are only legally allowed to be in front of those cameras for 20 minutes, and then we have to pass them off. We shed a lot of tears.”
After confirming she and Scheana are in a “decent place” at the moment, Lala gushed over their daughters, Ocean and Summer Moon, saying they were the “big stars” of Pump Rules season nine.
“When I got her little like work thing, her work permit, I was like, holy sh-t, this is crazy. That Ocean has a work permit already,” Lala recalled.
In addition to Ocean and Summer Moon being added to the cast, fans will also be meeting a few other newbies.
“I think we’ll see new faces. We’re fresh into it, but, and I didn’t know what to expect, but it’s going to be a great season,” Lala vowed. “Sh-t’s already hit the fan, and it’s awesome. Awesome for viewers, not so awesome for us.”
While Lala said she’s “so grateful” to be a part of the show, she added that she misses filming with Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor, and Brittany Cartwright.
“It’s hard when your job is also like hanging out with your best friends, and then they’re no longer a part of it. That was the thing I enjoyed the most… [getting] to hang out with my friends and work at the same time. A piece of my friendship pie is gone, and that’s really hard,” she explained.
Vanderpump Rules season nine premieres this fall on Bravo.
