Tamra Judge offered an update on her estrangement from her oldest daughter, Sidney Barney, on a recent episode of her shared podcast with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp.
After Teddi opened up about her strained relationship with her own mother, Vicki Granucci, who was admitted into the ICU after a fall weeks ago, Tamra, who recently returned to her role on the Real Housewives of Orange County, told Teddi she has to reach out to her mother, signaling to her concerns for her relationship with Sidney and noting that son Spencer Barney is not speaking to his dad, Simon Barney, amid his cancer battle.
“When Simon was fighting cancer, Spencer hadn’t talked to his dad in four years, five years, and I told him, I said, ‘Buddy, if something happens to your dad, he doesn’t make it, you don’t have to think about it right now, but you’re gonna have to live the rest of your life like that,’” Tamra revealed on Two Ts in a Pod, via a clip shared to her Instagram page on October 7.
“And I worry about that with my oldest daughter, who hasn’t talked to me. Like, one day something could happen,” she continued. “You just don’t know what’s gonna happen, and you have to respect your parents no matter what.”
As RHOC fans may know, Tamra and Sidney faced a falling out years ago — with Sidney accusing her mother of being “embarrassing” and “mentally abusive” — and have yet to make amends. Still, during an interview in 2019, Tamra said that despite the years of separation she and her daughter have endured, she hadn’t “lost hope” for a future reconciliation.
One year later, after the reveal of Simon’s cancer diagnosis, Tamra said their kids, including Sidney, had been unable to visit him.
“The kids haven’t seen their dad other than FaceTime in a month now. It’s hard enough to fight a disease like cancer and to have to do it without your loved ones around,” Tamra shared. “Spencer and Sophia are both here. Sidney’s away at college. She’s stuck over there in Chicago right now.”
According to Tamra, it was understandably “hard for” Sidney to be kept from her father during such a dire time.
“She hasn’t been able to come back to see him, which has been hard for her. Hopefully, soon this will all pass, and she can come by and visit,” Tamra added.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 17 is currently in production and expected to begin airing on Bravo sometime in early 2023.
